ENTRY LEVEL POSITION AVAILABLE

The Blue Water Area Rescue Mission located in Port Huron Michigan has an entry level opening for a Resident Assistant.

Job Title:               Resident Assistant – Midnight’s 3-4 nights a  week

Reports to:           Case Manager, Program Director

Job Purpose:        To oversee the health and safety of the Self-Sufficiency Program. Help enhance the spiritual, physical and emotional growth and development of residents.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Keep residents informed of all policies and procedures and ensure safety and comfort for all residents. Refer residents to Case Manager or Program Director for counseling as needed.

  2. Ensure a safe, healthy, clean and supportive environment, emphasizing the participation of residents in the process.

  3. Enforce lights out and/or wake up calls at designated times.

  4. Maintain and update records as instructed.

  5. Maintain food pantry and other supplies for distribution to residents as needed.

  6. Promote a positive and spiritually uplifting atmosphere through the use of Christian music, words of encouragement, etc.

  7. Any other duties that may be assigned.

 Education and Experience:

  1. Minimum High School Diploma or its equivalent

  2. Minimum one year’s experience in a service industry.

  3. CPR certification is required. (may be obtained while training for position)

Character Qualities:

  1. Provides a clear Biblical testimony of a personal experience of receiving by faith the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior.

  2. Maintains an exemplary Christian lifestyle and desire to serve the Lord in the ministry of reconciliation.

  3. A letter of reference from your current pastor attesting to the above testimonials is required.

  4. Have excellent interpersonal/relational skills; must enjoy people and be able to work with diverse populations.

  5. Be able to keep healthy boundaries.

  6. The ability to maintain strict confidentiality (HIPAA).

  7. Be able to work under minimal supervision.

  8. Be teachable and detail oriented.

  9. Works in harmony with other staff and execute rules and regulations in a firm but loving manner.
